FILM and TV rights for NOD by Adrian Barnes bought by global media giant FOX

20th CENTURY FOX have bought the Film and TV rights for NOD by Adrian Barnes. NOD was short listed for the Arthur C Clarke award 2013. It is published by Bluemoose books.

Chernin Entertainment, a division of FOX have optioned the rights for a 12 part US TV series. The sale was conducted by Tanya Tillet of KNIGHT HALL AGENCY, London.

Kevin Duffy publisher at Bluemoose Books says. ‘This is the first international TV and Film rights sale Bluemoose has had and I’m really pleased that NOD by Adrian Barnes will now be seen and then hopefully read by a global audience. As an Independent publisher selling rights is imperative in sustaining our publishing going forward. It is also a really important way of promoting our books on an international stage and as we are in the week of the biggest book fair in the world, Frankfurt, it couldn’t have happened at a better time.’

Review of NOD in The Guardian.

‘The apocalypse comes in many forms, but none stranger than that of the chronic sleep deprivation that leads to mass psychosis in Adrian Barnes’s audacious novel Nod (Bluemoose, £7.99). Paul is a misanthropic hack writing a non-fiction book about obscure words when the world is afflicted and the majority of citizens begin to hallucinate solipsistic realities that Paul, as a Sleeper and a wordsmith, can influence. Barnes employs this brilliant idea to explore the nature of perception, redemption, and personal and social catastrophe. Outstanding.’

Note to editors: Bluemoose Books is an award winning publisher. King Crow by Michael Stewart won The Guardian Not The Booker 2011 and was a World Book Day recommended read 2012. PIG IRON by Benjamin Myers has been short listed for GORDON BURN Prize 2013.The winner will be announced on October 19th at The Durham Book festival.
