Jackie Simpson, Family Learning Manager, gives us a preview of what to expect from them on Family Day

WP: Tell us a little bit about yourself?

JS: The Family Learning Team with around 500 families in Blackpool every year to help parents and carers to brush up their own skills and learn how to support their children’s learning. We work closely with schools and children’s centres and run courses from ranging Family Maths and English to Family Arts and Craft workshops and Rock Pooling at the beach

WP: What are you most looking forward to about the Family Day?

JS: We are looking forward to being part of a great day which brings the community together for a fun day of things to see, make and do.

WP: What can we expect to see on the day?

JS:  We are running activities for families based on book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen, with stories, trails and craft activities

WP: What was you favourite childhood read?

JS: ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ is one of our favourite books to share with families. Our  favourite childhood books were The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Tiger Who Came to Tea (there’s a foodie theme going on there!)
